February 1, 2018 - Lafeber Company is voluntarily recalling its Sunny Orchard Pellet-Berries Foods for Parakeets, Cockatiels, and Parrots. The Pellet-Berries recall includes all 12.5 oz sizes for Parakeet, Cockatiel, and Parrot, and 3.5 lbs for Parrots. All of these foods were available from Drs. Foster and Smith:
Lafeber Company initiated this voluntary recall because their Pellet-Berries packaging experienced an unexpected seal malfunction that enables mold to grow in the Pellet-Berries Foods. According to Lafeber, they had only two reported cases of mold out of 53,299 Pellet-Berries tubs sold in the past two years (both cases were reported late last week). While this mold growth is a rare occurrence, it is too much of a risk for your beloved feathered friends.
To ensure the health of all birds who eat Pellet-Berries, Lafeber has recalled all Pellet-Berries and will issue a refund or send replacement product once they receive your purchased Pellet-Berries product.

December 21, 2017 - Primal Pet Foods, Inc. is voluntarily recalling specific lots of 5 of its Primal Canine and Feline Freeze-Dried Poultry formulas. This includes certain products available from Doctors Foster and Smith.Primal initiated this voluntary recall because these products were produced using a grind size that exceeds Primal's specification for the size of ground bone to be fed to dogs and cats. Primal's specification for ground bone to be fed to dogs and cats is 1/8". The products in question were ground at 1/4", or 1/8" deviation from Primal's specification.

June 13, 2017-- United Pet Group (UPG), a division of Spectrum Brands, Inc. is voluntarily recalling multiple brands of packages of rawhide dog chew products that were distributed to retail outlets and sold online in the U.S. This includes Digest-eeze brand rawhide chews available at Drs. Foster and Smith.
Only UPG products with lot codes listed on the back of the package that start with AH, AV, A, AI, AO, or AB, and which list expiration dates from 06/01/2019 through 05/31/2020 are affected by this recall. The recall involves the Digest-eeze brand products described below.
The recall was initiated after UPG identified that certain rawhide manufacturing facilities outside the U.S. were using an anti-microbial chemical as a processing aid. This chemical is approved for cleaning food processing equipment, but has not been approved in the U.S. as a processing aid in the production of rawhide chews for dogs.
UPG received very limited reports of pet illness based on the volume of possibly affected rawhide chew products manufactured and distributed. The primary complaint received from consumers was that the affected product had an unpleasant odor. Diarrhea and vomiting were also reported.

February 3, 2017--At Doctors Foster and Smith, the health and well-being of all pets is extremely important to us.
For that reason, we have initiated a voluntary recall of a limited amount 12.7 ounce Doctors Foster and Smith Chicken & Brown Rice Formula Canned Adult Dog Food due to a potential foreign material (small pieces of metal) which may have affected a limited number of cans.
We have not received any reports of injury or illness associated with the affected product; however, out of an abundance of caution, all potentially affected product has been removed from inventory and replaced with unaffected product.
We are contacting pet parents who have purchased item #12979 or #13751 between September 14, 2016, and February 1, 2017, to ask them to verify the "Best By" date and Lot Code found on the bottom of the can (see illustration below). If you identify that you have any affected product, please stop feeding it immediately and discard any remaining affected food.
